Exhibition shows flowers have more than just a pretty face

For Aboriginal people living in Australia's Top End, water lilies are more than pretty flowers. The freshwater people who live there fish amongst them, savour their nutty taste and use them as seasonal indicators. And now the blue-flowering lilies (Nymphaea immutabilis) are the subject of an exhibition of artwork at Sydney's Botanic Gardens.

Dissenters join forces ahead of Pope's visit

With World Youth Day approaching, it's not only the pious who are preparing for the arrival of Pope Benedict XVI in Sydney. A group of gay, atheist, socialist and religious activists are also gearing up for the six day event. On July 15, when WYD begins, the group, calling itself the NoToPope Coalition, will launch its own campaign.
